Not all processed foods are inherently bad for you. And it may be surprising, but ingredients that sound like ‘chemicals’ aren’t necessarily bad either.  Being aware of high amounts of sodium and sugar is recommended but there are some truly shady ingredients you should watch out for in packaged foods. 

High Fructose Corn Syrup

This sweetener is made from corn and has been proven to be bad for your health.  It promotes insulin resistance (bad) and has been associated with obesity and diabetes.  

HFCS is just another form of added sugar. 

Artificial Sweeteners

Artificial sweeteners like saccharin, aspartame, and sucralose are big red flags for most health experts. Early research has show that artificial sweetener consumption may disrupt the gut microbiome (also not good) which is critical for regulating immune health, metabolic function, mental health and more. 

The saying “you are what you eat” has never been more true than today.  Just imagine – What if you started eating healthy and avoided HFCS and Sugar (fake or real)? How much better would you feel and look?
